New Years Tour in Tallinn
On New Years Eve, we were on tour in Tallinn, where the Tallinn City Theatre (Tallinna Linnateater) holds the annual Midwinter Night’s Dream festival.
The City Theatre is just an unbelievably cozy, convenient, and beautiful space – or, more accurately, spaces (there are 7 performance spaces in the theatre). This theatre is, in total, 14 (or so) medieval homes connected into one building. And this whole massive building was given to us gratis, to use for a week. Happiness!
The people who work in this theatre are worth noting by themselves. Willing, attentive, clever, generous, professional, punctual, and so on. In short, we fell in love with this place.
20 minutes before the New Year, our “City Performance” began, dedicated to Tallinn as the 2011 Cultural Capital of Europe. Every artist and architect in reach took part in it, including our students from GITIS (“Katerina's Dreams,” incidentally, went on tour for the first time – hurrah!). Aleksey Tregubov directed the performance. The street performance ended exactly at midnight with fireworks, and transitioned directly into celebrations.
We were there with our shows “Sir Vantes: Donkey Hot,” “Auction,” “Death of a Giraffe,” “Katerina's Dreams,” and “Opus №7.”
Premiere of “Katya, Sonya, Polya, Galya, Vera, Olya, Tanya!"
