Valentina was born in Moscow in 1987. From 1997 to 2005 she studied at the Class-Centre Dramatic-Musical Art School in Moscow.
From 2005 to 2007 she studied at the Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK) in the department of Directing. In 2012 she graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS), from the program led by director and designer Dmitry Krymov and set designer Evgeny Kamenkovich. Ms. Ostankovich has been a co-creator of and performer in the following Dmitry Krymov Laboratory productions: Katerina's Dreams; A Story: Dido & Aeneas; Giraffe Death (also designed puppets); Honoré de Balzac: Notes from Berdichev (also designed projections and shot video).
Since 2010, Ms. Ostankovich has worked as a set designer and costume designer in several famous Moscow theatres, including the Sovremennik, Fomenko's Theatre, The Music Theatre for Children, and others. In 2012 Ms. Ostankovich won a special Golden Mask Award for her set design for the Music for Theatre and Children’s production of Love of Three Oranges, and again in 2013 for her design of A Play About Soul and Body. Since 2012 she has been teaching composition with Maria Tregubova in Dmitry Krymov's course for directors and designers at GITIS, and since 2013 has assisted Krymov himself in teaching his course.
